[This is part of a series of posts that will extend through the entire year of 2009 twice monthly according to my original post "My pledge to Kiva for 2009". To view all of my Kiva projects, take a moment to check out my Kiva lending page.]
In this week’s Kiva Pledge Update I am supporting the Nantume kasfa Group in Uganda, which sells ripe bananas in the market of Kampala. The store is run by Nantume Kasfa and the 4 members which make up Nantume kasfa Group.
According to their Kiva business page:
Nantume Kasfa, is 45 years of age she is married with seven children .she rants a one roomed house where she leaves with her children She does take care of extended family her grand child. Her greatest expenses in a month are feeding and rent for the house. She sells ripe bananas in the market. She receives about 10 customers a day. And she has done this business for over for years now Her challenges are the price fluctuations for commodities which in turn force her to raise the prices of her bananas She has been with MCDT for over 3 years and this is her 6th loan. she wants to use this loan to buy more bananas for sell, and she would like to expand her business given the capital.
Stay tuned for the next Kiva Pledge Update on April 12th.
